TECATE / SAN FELIPE / MIKE'S SKY RANCH TOUR

Your tour begins when you are picked up in San Diego by one of our tour guides and driven to your hotel in Tecate.  A get acquainted session with your tour "Rhino" is followed by your choice of traditional Mexican dinners.

Day two begins in the morning with a scenic drive on winding trails through valleys and plateaus up to the 5000' mountains of the "Parque Nacional Constitucion de 1857" (Constitution of 1857 National Park) and the expansive pine forest.  A refreshing snack break and photo opportunity awaits at picturesque Laguna (Lake) Hansen.  You then continue south out of the pine forest and into high desert scrub land, including several miles of varied cacti.  A stop in the farming community of Valle de Trinidad for lunch and gas begins a section leading down to the lower desert and a ten mile run across the famous 'Diablo' (devil) dry lake bed.  Sandy trails take you over the eastern coastal mountains to a breath taking view of the Sea of Cortez and the community of San Felipe.  You will cover approximately 200 miles and enjoy either resting comfortably at your sea side hotel and restaurant for the evening or exploring the town San Felipe.

Your start for day three is a tranquil breakfast overlooking the Sea of Cortez and then off to the famous "Mike's Sky Rancho".  Several different routes are available, including one with stops at 'Quartz Mountain' and fossil beds.  "Mike's", as it is known to off roaders, is located at the end of an exciting mountain trail culminating with a tree lined water crossing.  You will be treated to a traditional 'ranch style' dinner while sharing tales of the day's adventures.  Be sure to get the limited edition "Mike's" souvenier t-shirt, available only to those who have made the journey!

After breakfast, day four takes you down the mountain to Valle de Trinidad, prior to crossing the high desert.  Scenic winding trails lead you through picturesque valleys and free-range cattle ranches which will bring you to the end of this day's 160 mile journey.  You will be greeted with refreshments and an opportunity to shower and change clothes before the drive back to the San Diego in the U.S. where your adventure began.

TESTIMONIAL

"We had a great time we will never forget, the only thing we do now is talk about the trip and the great time we had.  Actually if there was another tour planned for today, I would do it again."

My Baja UTV trip was everything I expected and more.  Jim was the ideal person to host our tour.  He loves to ride Baja and has doing it for many years. He knows all the best trails, best views for photo ops, and best restaurants.  It was worth going for the scenery and food alone!

Or multi-day ride was well paced, fast enought to keep it exciting but still keeping it safe.  Jim preps and maintains the vehicles with precision, lessons learned from his extensive Baja racing experience.  We had great fun and my buddies who didn't come along are jealous after hearing my stories and seeing the pictures.  It may soon be time to plan a repeat visit.
